Coverage of JASE EXPO 2026 NAGOYA.” As
the shift to electric vehicles (EVs) accelerates and demands for an “immersive” and “luxurious” in-car experience grow, subtle operational and friction noises—which were previously drowned out by engine noise—are emerging as new challenges.Furthermore, the miniaturization and weight reduction of components aimed at improving energy efficiency and fuel economy are placing unprecedented stress on various drive train components.
In response to the stringent demands unique to next-generation mobility, NIPPECO is offering reliable solutions through its “grease” approach. We’ll explore the current state of lubrication technology through three of the company’s highly anticipated high-performance grease products.
“Foreign Particle Control Grease” that automatically removes foreign particles and maintains normal lubrication performance
In automotive parts operating under harsh conditions, the ingress of foreign matter such as sand, dust, and metal particles is a direct cause of poor lubrication and abnormal noise. NIPPECO has developed the industry’s only “foreign-particle-control grease,” which features a groundbreaking mechanism that uses special additives to actively capture and remove foreign particles from lubricated surfaces.
It is intended for use in power windows, sunroofs, and seat-related components, and has been proven to prevent abnormal noises and maintain low friction and quiet operation even in tests involving a 2% sand and dust mixture. Its track record of adoption in harsh, dusty environments—such as the Middle East and India—further attests to its high reliability.
“Noise-Reducing Grease” that analyzes the type of noise and pinpoints and isolates it
With the ongoing shift toward electric vehicles, the increasing use of actuators, and growing demands for greater immersion and a sense of luxury, suppressing unpleasant operating noises has become more urgent than ever.
To address this issue, NIPPECO has developed specialized greases with varying viscosities and compositions tailored to specific applications.
Applying these greases reliably suppresses the annoying noises emitted by doors and interior components.

“Anti-Squeak Grease (High Surface Pressure)” to Overcome the Drawbacks of Severe Downsizing
While the miniaturization of automotive parts contributes to space efficiency and weight reduction, it also creates a physical challenge in the form of “high contact pressure” in the drive mechanisms. Conventional greases cannot withstand this high contact pressure, causing the oil film to break down, which leads to an increase in the coefficient of friction and the resulting sliding noise.
This product was developed specifically to address this challenge by reducing friction and suppressing sliding noise under high contact pressure conditions. Even in sliding tests between plastic and metal subjected to a high contact pressure of 14 MPa, it has successfully reduced friction and suppressed the generation of annoying noise. It can be considered a key solution for achieving both compactness and quiet operation while maintaining design flexibility.
Reflections on the Future
Autonomous removal of foreign particles, precise suppression of abnormal noises, and reliable lubrication under high surface pressure. The grease technologies developed by NIPPECO go far beyond simply extending the service life of components.
For example, in a future society where “fully autonomous vehicles operating 365 days a year”—based on car-sharing and MaaS—become widespread, reducing vehicle downtime will become a critical issue that could shake the very foundation of the business. As suspension and drivetrain systems are required to possess durability approaching “maintenance-free”—maintaining normal operation for extended periods without human intervention—the evolution of these high-performance greases is poised to become a core technology that powerfully drives the societal implementation of next-generation mobility from behind the scenes.
